"'...You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?' They all condemned him as deserving to die." (Mk 14:64)
Summary
After Jesus was arrested, according to John, he was led to Annas first, the father-in-law of the current high priest. Then he was led to Caiaphas, the current high priest. They ask him if he was the Messiah, and Jesus answers, "I AM, and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of the power and coming with the clouds of heaven" (MK 15:62). Then, as a sign of anger of Jesus blasphemy, the high priest tore his robe, which is against the law. The guards struck him and spit on him, commanding him to prophesize. Peter, one of Jesus's disciples, followed the guards who arrested Jesus. Peter was questioned three times by different people who accused him of being one of Jesus's disciples. Peter denied all three accusations, just as Jesus predicted. Right then the cock crowed and, remembering what Jesus said, he went away and wept.

Similarities
All four gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, include parts about Jesus being questioned before the Sanhedrin. The Sanhedrin includes the chief priests, scribes, and elders. They also all say that Jesus was lead to the high priest. It says in Matthew, "Those who had arrested Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled." (Mt 26:57) Something similar is said in all of the other stories. This is a very important part of the trial. This is why it is included in all four gospels, not just the synoptic stories- Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Jesus is also asked many questions in all of the stories. It says in John, "the high priest questioned Jesus about his disciples and about his doctrine." (Jn18:19) These questions are similar in the synoptic gospels, and they say that the high priest asked Jesus if he was the Messiah. "Are you the Messiah, the son of the Blessed One?" (Mk 15:61). Although in different ways, every Gospel mentions that Jesus admits he is the Messiah. This is important and included in all of the gospel narratives because Christians today believe that Jesus is the Messiah as he stated.

Unique Points
All of the Gospels tell the same story of the trial before the Sanhedrin, but each tell it a little differently. For example, Luke is the only Synoptic Gospel that did not mention the fact that Jesus would destroy and rebuild the Temple like the other Gospels (Mt 27:61, Mk 14:58). John is the only Gospel that has a passage named "Inquiry before Annas" (Jn 18:19-24). This passage tells of a high priest questioning Jesus about his disciples and doctrine. After this inquiry, Jesus is sent to the high priest Caiaphas.
